John Anthony launched his label in 1971 and during the seventies and into the eighties produced amazing pieces that were sleek and sexy

Both pieces are lined in a fine black silk taffeta with the jacket's interior being quilted

Fully lined in hand set silk taffeta and closes with a back painted metal zipper

The color is a cream with a drop of taupe in it and has a champagne feel to it

I spoke to the person who handled the sale of this dress for the original owner and this was custom made for her to wear to a New Years eve party - around 1958 or '59

It would have been originally sold as a lingerie piece but it is opaque enough that in our modern world it can now easily be worn out as a proper dress. It is made of a fine synthetic silk that is hand washable. Its pleated ruffle top and signature print instantly identifies it as Zandra Rhodes. I have had similar pieces to this in various solid colors in the past but this one is a little extra fabulous
