Both structures sat at the pit top, where men collected and returned their lamps at the start and end of every shift. Elrington Colliery, near Abernethy in the Hunter Valley, produced coal for BHP's Newcastle steelworks from 1930 until its closure in December 1962. Part of the Elrington Colliery series.
