This Cryptanthus reaches 18 to 24 inches in diameter having wavy, densely scurfed wide leaves, maroon in color with pinkish hues, and subtle, black underlying mottling and banding. The mottling changes to a multitude of colors in bright light. The nested inflorescence is a cluster pure white, large petalled flowers.
