This pretty bird is regarded as one of the friendliest native birds in the forest. They often flitter within a few metres of people in search of small flying insects that may have been disturbed by human activity. They have a small head and bill and a long tail which opens to a fan, giving the bird its name. The shade is silk screen printed with a white silhouette image of the Piwakawaka. The
